Periodontal treatment is aimed at arresting the gum disease, resolving inflammation and reducing number and depth of pockets (space between root of tooth and gum). This deep cleaning of gums can be carried out under local anaesthetic on sections of the mouth at a time by our hygienist or by your treating dentist. The hygienist/dentist will also advise you on minor modifications to your personal dental care, since this is of fundamental importance in achieving periodontal (gum) health.
