Cosmetic contouring

Cosmetic contouring is used to 'fix' minor imperfections with your smile, it is also called enameloplasty or tooth reshaping.

How is the procedure performed?

Your dentist will use specialised equipment to gently remove some of your tooth enamel, or add dental material to reshape/reduce or lengthen your tooth or teeth to improve the overall look.

What are the benefits?

The results are instant, and there are no nerves in your enamel, so the treatment is completely pain free.

Are there any disadvantages?

Contouring can only be used to repair minor cosmetic problems, this is because the enamel of your teeth is only about 2.6mm thick, the dentist is limited to how much tooth structure he or she can remove and not affect the integrity of your tooth or teeth.
